It is lilac season in New England. I missed them all the years I lived in Memphis. It was possible to buy lilac bushes there, but keeping them alive was a neat trick. Here they literally grow like weeds. Their fragrance is heavy and singular. I like to roll down the window on back road drives and drink in the perfume. The season is short but sweet. And simply lovely.

When my folks sold their house, I relocated one to my home here....I later found out that, "you can't grow them down here...and if anyone ever should, they wouldn't bloom"....I never told that to Claudia and she bloomed this year !!!! I, too LOVE the smell of lilacs !! it's a toss-up betewen lilacs, hyacinths & gardenias...though w/o ac this year, and bob having 31 blossoms just outside of my front door, the house was filled with them and I have grown to savor that fragrance, as well. Did you hear from J'rom yet? Kisses
